Male Waxing Before and Aftercare

Following the correct preparation and aftercare guidance will help reduce irritation, improve comfort and support the best possible waxing results.

Before Your Waxing Appointment

Allow the Hair to Grow

The hair needs to be long enough for the wax to grip effectively. Avoid shaving or trimming the treatment area too closely before your appointment.

Exfoliate Gently

Gently exfoliate the treatment area before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and help reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. Avoid harsh scrubs or excessive exfoliation that may irritate the skin.

Arrive Clean and Prepared

Please arrive with clean, dry skin. Avoid applying moisturisers, oils, deodorants or other products to the treatment area before your appointment.

Avoid Sunbeds and Tanning

Avoid sunbeds, sunbathing and fake tanning products before your treatment. Waxing skin that is sunburnt, damaged or irritated may increase sensitivity and discomfort.

Plan Your Appointment

Allow enough time to travel to the Manology studio without feeling rushed. It is also advisable to avoid booking your waxing treatment immediately before strenuous exercise, swimming, sun exposure or an important event.

Managing Discomfort

Some areas may feel more sensitive than others. If you have a low pain threshold, you may wish to consider taking suitable pain relief before your appointment. Always follow the product instructions and seek advice from a healthcare professional if you are unsure whether it is suitable for you.

Please inform your therapist before treatment if you are taking medication, using prescription skincare products or have any skin conditions, allergies, injuries or irritation in the treatment area.

After Your Waxing Treatment

Freshly waxed skin may feel slightly sensitive and can appear red or raised immediately after treatment. This is usually temporary and should settle naturally.

To protect the treated skin, please follow the guidance below:

  • Avoid hot baths and showers. Use cool or lukewarm water only.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and massage treatments.
  • Avoid sunbathing, sunbeds and fake tanning products.
  • Avoid sport, gym sessions and strenuous exercise.
  • Avoid swimming, particularly in chlorinated pools.
  • Do not scratch, rub or touch the treated area with unwashed hands.
  • Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing to reduce heat and friction.
  • Avoid deodorants, body sprays, powders, perfumes, lotions and fragranced products on the treated area.
  • Only apply soothing or aftercare products recommended by your Manology therapist.

Please contact Manology if you experience prolonged irritation, unusual discomfort or any other reaction that concerns you.
